Khalid is an operations and technology executive who built and ran the operational infrastructure of a multibillion-dollar private credit platform.

At MassMutual’s Direct Private Investments, now Barings Portfolio Finance, he designed and led the operational infrastructure for what is now a $28B fund finance platform, and personally wrote the production systems it ran on. By the time he left, he led a cross-functional team responsible for data management, investor reporting, credit modeling and loan asset management. The role gave him a rare view into how some of the largest asset managers operate, and how often people and spreadsheets fill the gaps between systems that can’t connect and can’t change.

Earlier, as a consultant at Deloitte, he delivered operational optimization, analytics and technology for global financial institutions.

He left Barings in November 2025 to build what he couldn’t buy.

Tim is a product strategy and operations executive with over 20 years building and scaling complex private market investment platforms.

As Head of Business Operations for MassMutual’s Direct Private Investments team, he scaled the platform from a three-person startup to a global business across the US and Europe, building its structuring, servicing, risk and operations functions, and later leading strategy and structuring through its transition to Barings.

Earlier, as a Managing Director at State Street, he led product strategy for private equity and real asset solutions, building its private credit offering and guiding dozens of private credit and CLO managers through operational transformation.

He currently advises lenders and asset managers on launching new private credit strategies and building the operations to scale them.
